MEET THE FOUNDERS OF PROACTIVE HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE

WE'RE HERE TO HELP YOU BECOME THE STRONGER HEALTHIER YOU

Meet Jonathan Brown

Jonathan Brown has been at the forefront of a number of major business shifts in the last 20 years. The first was moving into coaching in 2001 – years before "coaching" was popular.  He was fortunate to start his coaching career with the people who literally wrote the book on coaching.

Whilst he worked in family businesses from the age of 5 (it was still legal then), his formal career began after a degree in Japanese and Economics, when he joined Procter & Gamble. After 7 years there, he set up my own consultancy and also a property business.  He burnt out in the crash and learnt the hard way that most performance ideas don’t work when you need them most. He led his own recovery by researching and applying ideas from life and death situations such as US Marines, surgeons, and pilots.

Since 2009, he has specialised in performance in extreme situations covering areas such as stress, resilience, well-being and performance (inc deep research into PTSD) for 13 years. This level of experience and depth of research means he can help clients sift through the seductive but useless ideas and get to what will help extremely quickly. Our clients find benefit in this experience as they can translate it into significant savings of money and time.

This was one of the main reasons why Imran and Jonathan struck up such an effective collaboration so quickly. They had both worked through most of the prevailing theories to arrive at a few key principles.

One of the most important ways he helps clients is in reducing the risk and cost of achieving challenging goals. Success comes at a price. Jonathan helps you to reduce that price so that it’s worthwhile. He also helps you to reduce unnecessary risk.

Jonathan’s unique insight – study the most extreme situations and then scale that back for day-to-day situations is the opposite of most other consultancies. Most suggest special actions for difficult situations. There’s no evidence to support this approach. The ALP approach means that when stuff gets real, your approach gets even better because it’s returning home. This is extremely reassuring for clients.

This was the topic of Jonathan’s first book, Stress and Success – Fast Fixes for Turbulent Times published in 2013. The book articulated our unique approach to corporate stress – a way to build resilience, agility and high performance. It received a satisfying amount of critical acclaim. Tom Peters, the world’s first truly global management guru, and author of In Search of Excellence, said it was “extraordinarily provocative and excellently researched."

Meet Imran Khan

Imran founded our health partner organisation,  TransformNow,  in 2013 following a decades long journey of health and high performance. Whilst the business has developed massively since then, the vision and commitment to improving the health and fitness of his clients remains the same.

The holistic view TN takes to health, wellbeing and performance has come from over 20 years experience of the health sector at a practitioner and academic level. This approach has been appreciated by international agencies such as the UN, UNICEF, DFID and OXFAM.

With this accumulated knowledge, coupled with modern and up-to-date academic and research skills, TransformNow has designed various programmes that appeal to a wide range of clients of varying abilities and potential health issues.

Even though Imran has an intimidating level of acadamic qualifications, he likes to make things clear and simple by translating deep academic research into actionable scientific action.  TN's health optimisation techniques and methods, training and plans are proven to work, and each plan of action is bespoke to your needs and health requirements.

In 2019, this was acknowledged at the UK Fitness Awards when Imran and the TN team won the Science and Innovation award.

As a life-long supporter of sports especially bodybuilding, powerlifting and martial arts as well as being a gym owner, Imran helps athletes so they could understand their own bodies better. This helps them to perform better and to also increase performance safely. His experience as a sports and exercise physiologist adds greatly to his understanding of how competitors strive for that elusive winning advantage.
